Who Am I and What Do I Do?
Hi, I’m Lillian Lartey. I’m a Health Fitness Expert & Mind Body Coach, and creator of I Want My Body Back.
I’ve worked in the Health, Fitness and Wellness Industry for over 17 years, and help men and women, mainly between the age of 35-65, to look, and feel better in their bodies and develop a healthy lifestyle. I do this through nutrition, exercise and mind body technique.
Typically, the men and women I help tend to be off track with their eating, and exercise, feel unfit, bloated, stressed, tired, have certain health conditions and often carry weight around their belly.
As a result of working with me, my clients transform their health, bodies and lives. They eat better, feel calmer, happier, lighter, slimmer and have healthier, fitter, stronger bodies.
My passion around health, fitness, wellness, nutrition and wellbeing has led me to be interviewed, and speak on Premier Christian Radio, Croydon Radio, ABN’s popular TV Series – Family Time (aired on Sky), ABN Radio, as well as on other various platforms, where I share my message to help people transform their health, bodies and lives.
Why I Specialise In Health, Fitness, Nutrition and Mind Body Connection…
I’ve always been passionate about all things to do with the human body, health, fitness and wellbeing. Human Biology was my favourite subject at school, I’ve always enjoyed being active as a kid and exercise. I even trained and qualified as a Martial Arts Instructor where we had to develop our belly muscles to take punches to the tummy area! I have to say, it was fun at the time…
I love to inspire and encourage people to be in a place of ’knowing’, ‘discovery’, and ‘transformation’, when it comes to their health and wellbeing; and help them fulfil their bodies full potential.
For the past 17 plus years I’ve enjoyed helping men and women develop healthy, strong, and fitter bodies and stay consistent feeling pain-free.
A defining moment happened in my life back in 2011 where I was living in a body that was suffering with the effects of stress and burn-out. I was tired, felt worn out and irritable because I didn’t have the energy to do the things I wanted and loved to do. At the time I was teaching a lot of classes, clients and running three busy massage clinics.
Each day I put a “mask” on to hide what was really going on with me. I was making out that I was well, but I was exhausted and struggling to do even the simplest of tasks. I worked hard, was clocking up 12 hour days and hardly taking time off to rest. I used unhealthy methods to keep me going , but that didn’t last for long. I was soon back to square one.
Working as a Fitness Professional and Massage Therapist, I was suppose to be the “epitome” of health. I looked it on the outside, but on the inside things were “not as they should be”. I had a number of injuries, had back and joint pain, felt exhausted, I lost my motivation for the thing I loved – health and fitness – lacked confidence, and became disillusioned.
During a weight loss course I attended, we covered subjects about stress, hormones and toxins. I realised I was experiencing all the symptoms that was described, which included fat storing around my tummy. I also discovered that my hormones were out of balance and I was addicted to sugar! At first I was in denial about how the effect of sugar, toxins, stress and erratic hormones were having on me. It wasn’t until I watched a television programme that talked about the effects of excess fat around the belly area and how harmful it is – leading to dis-eases, such as, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart dis-ease, diabetes and more – that I decided to take radical action to get my body back in shape!
Just because I was a Fitness Trainer it didn’t mean I was “healthy and fit”. I was out of shape – inside and out!
I decided that if I really wanted to live in optimal health and have a fit, toned, and strong body, I was going to find out as much as I could about stress, belly fat, muscular and joint pain, and get myself back on track. I invested my time and money into courses, programmes, a Coach to guide me, and read books.
Within a few months of applying the knowledge, being teachable and making necessary changes, I eliminated the stress symptoms, reduced my belly fat dramatically, started to overcome my addiction to sugar, balanced my hormones, improved my health, and got back on track with renewed energy, passion for my work and life again! Even my injuries, back, muscle and joint pain started to disappear.
As a result I have decided to dedicate my professional life to helping men and women who suffer with back, neck, shoulder, hip, muscle or joint pain, and feel out of shape, to have the solutions they need to have a healthier, fitter, stronger body for the long term.
