Yesterday a friend of mine said to me, “Lillian, it takes discipline to eat the way you eat. How do you do it?”
For me, it’s not about discipline, it’s about setting the intention to feel great.
Making choices that feels good.
Because I know that when I eat certain foods that make me feel unwell or in a way that doesn’t feel good….to me, it’s not even worth me eating them in the first place.
It’s not even about the food.
Food is a tool to help keep us energised and alive.
For me it’s about “intention”. The intention to feel great and not awful or unwell.
My friend was feeling guilty.
He’s heard me speak on Healthy Eating several times and his desire is to be “disciplined” (his words) with his food intake, but then guilt sets in when he eats something he considers to be unhealthy or he remembers what I said in one of my talks (hee, hee…) or something he’s read somewhere on healthy eating.
Can you relate?
Guilt is a funny thing….
The key thing for me is to set the intention and be aligned to that intention. When you’re aligned it doesn’t take willpower or hard discipline to eat healthy…..it really doesn’t.
Eating healthy is a tool that I choose as part of my journey to feel great, energised and healthy.
It’s not about eating paleo, alkaline, intermittent fasting, ketogenic or the like…
How I choose to eat is not based on one set eating style. I employ the principles that work for me along with flexibility.
How do you want to look and feel?
Light or heavy?
Great or rubbish?
Happy or depressed?
Energised or sluggish?
Healthy or unhealthy?
Why are you eating?
Out of an emotional need?
To feel loved and accepted?
Or out of a biological need?
To stay alive and function in optimal health?
If eating chocolate, cake, biscuits or crisps works for you and you’re happy with the results it gives you….then go for it!
Simply be aligned to your intention of how you desire to look and feel, and the rest will follow.
Happy eating xx
